About the Program: How It Works

Men's Health Personal Trainer is built for you—whatever your body type, fitness level, or goal.

Need to lose those last 10 pounds? Or get started losing 25? Want to build muscle or improve endurance? This is a complete system—a fitness and nutritional program tailored to fit your body and your goals.

You'll choose from more than 20 workout plans created by the experts at Men's Health magazine. It's simple—our workout selector makes it easy to define your fitness goals so you can get started on the plan that's right for you.

Then, our meal plan selector walks you through your food preferences so you can create a menu that matches your fitness, lifestyle, and weight-control goals. Choose from four proven programs: The Abs Diet, Testosterone Advantage, Belly-Off and Endurance Athlete's Diet. Don't want a food plan? No sweat. Just opt out and go with the workout plan.

That's just the start. Each week we will create a customized fitness program for you, based on your progress and current weight. You'll get a workout schedule and printable routines to take to the gym. You can check your technique by watching Men's Health-approved animation and video demonstrations. You can even download them to your iPod! The stronger you get, the more advanced and customized this system gets. You can go deeper into your workout by reading supplemental articles or fitness tips.

You'll also get a weekly meal plan that includes menus, recipes, nutrition information and printable shopping lists. You can personalize the nutrition plan to your dietary preferences, and meals and recipes can be swapped out easily.

Now comes the cool part…as you follow the online training program, you simply log your progress. Your plan automatically adjusts for the following week. And the workouts change, too, so they're always fresh and challenging, just as Men's Health recommends.

The system looks at your workouts and tells you how big your meals should be. Miss a workout? No problem, your meal plan will be adjusted. Didn't follow the meal plan? Simply tell us what you ate and your nutritional information will be updated accordingly (we all cheat sometimes!).

It's not all computers and databases. When you join Men's Health Personal Trainer, you get access to a team of Men's Health experts who are on the site, ready to give you advice and answer your questions. And you can talk to other members through our message boards for encouragement and support!
